SUPER DAD
Oh! It's Father's day again?I really can't remember when was the last time I saw my father.I think he has grown older,or maybe an inch taller I don't know. What I am sure of, he misses me so much.If I were to give you a story about my dad, pages wouldn't be enough neither a book. What do people do on this day? I am trying to recall what we used to do but it seems my brain just polished everything off.
From the residence of Migori town,no one doesn't know him. it's either you know him politically or religiously name it.Bonn Odhiambo but most of the people call him "Bonn Japesa" meaning the man with money.Yes I know,he is full of pride and smugness. His an ambitious and confident man that will never accept defeat. In any kind of way he always tries to prove you wrong, and I think that's how he won a seat in the government of Migori,as the County government revenue officer.
Being the only lady in a family of 11children was a very good privilege sometimes.I recieved all parternal love, attention, favours and opportunities that not even his wives would get.Yes for luo men, being polygamous was never an issue, the issue was how you managed your wives.I salute my father,he is one of a kind. Taking care of five wives from different locations was not an easy task.He used to complain about frequent headaches, headaches from his wives, schoolfees areas, rent is due,new uniforms and transport.Sincerly I don't know how he does this but all our needs were met.
I still express my gratitude and thankfulness to the father who always showed up.In all our academic lives, he always made an effort to come, however late he will always come. The father figure he portrayed was exceptional. His support, involvement and bond he created with his kids is outstanding.Highlighting the resilience and fortitude fathers display in overcoming challenges,he is a legend.
My dad has always been a pillar of discipline and order in our household, and his strictness has shaped us into responsible individuals. One of his notable rules was his unwavering insistence on us never leaving the safety of our home without permission. At first, it may have seemed like an inconvenience, but looking back, I realize that my dad's intention was to instill a sense of responsibility and mindfulness in us.
Despite his strictness towards his children, my father, Bonn Odhiambo, possessed a heart that overflowed with love and compassion for both strangers and relatives alike. He never hesitated to extend a helping hand to those in need, always going out of his way to lend support and assistance. His acts of kindness knew no bounds, as he willingly sacrificed his time and resources to alleviate the burdens of others. Even in the face of his own health struggles, particularly his battle with diabetes, he remained resilient and continued to spread love and warmth to those around him.Regardless of his strictness as a parent, his generosity and love knew no boundaries, making him a source of inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing him.Anybody can be a father but it takes a special man to be a Dad.
I celebrate my Dad!
